Inspiring Artists

Just found out that Franz Ackermann has got an exhibition at White Cube Gallery, London.  I love his work, his energetic paintings focusing on travel, tourism and urbanisation.  Ideas and passions of the environment are subjects that reoccur in my paintings and it is something that Ackermann continues to interpret and centre his paintings around.  There are juxtapositions within his work which I am drawn to and continue to wrestle with in my own work.

I am intrigued by his process of working and also the different components that make up his exhibitions.   Installations made up of a combination of wall paintings, drawings and also photographs.  It really gives me inspiration for my own ideas as I often feel like my work could benefit or develop if I was to try a different medium, an alternative to paintings, or possibly place this alongside the paintings to create a collection of work.  It has certainly given me things to think about and I haven’t even stepped foot in the gallery yet!!

Would love to hear from anyone who has been to the show or is intending to!
